THE HOUSE

Our architecturally striking timber home stands on three acres with 300 degree views of sub-tropical valleys and spectacular mountains.

The majestic Mossman Gorge, seen clearly from the breakfast deck, beckons us. The beach-side village of Port Douglas is 15 minutes’ drive to the south.

The whole house is made from local timbers including Silky Oak and Black Bean, and with its polished floors, the living area is light and spacious, with large wooden shutters opening to the valley’s breezes.

Enjoy your breakfast, with tropical fruits of the season, on the West Deck and watch native birds come for a dip in the bird baths. Their songs will probably have woken you at dawn.

The deep rock pool is a great spot for an early morning dip, or a refreshing plunge after a long day in the rainforest.

There are many local walks through the countryside. Marae is definitely a quiet and restful retreat.

Spectacular views, fantastic hosts. It has really enriched our holiday to stay here.

WILDLIFE

Among many Australian creatures, bandicoots and wallabies are our neighbours. Green tree frogs are often here. Butterflies, including the neon blue Ulysses, love the tropical flowers.

A bird list of over 100 species is available on request. Some birds include the Helmeted Friarbird, Double Eyed Fig Parrot, Sulphur-crested Cockatoo and the Yellow-Bellied Sun Bird.

Awesome!
